The brand Odlo was created by Odd Roar Lofterød sen. in 1946. At first he began with ladies? underwear and children?s wear. In order to prevent his son from freezing while skating, he designed the first sport tights without nasty suspenders.
1963 he developed, based on the revolutionary fibre Helanca, the first elastic cross-country skiing dress, in which the Norwegian national team won the gold medal at the Olympic Games in 1964. At the Olympic Games in 1972 no less than 25 teams were wearing the Odlo competition dress.
In 1986, the base was set for a career advancement in Zug: the Odlo-International was created. Later on, the ATHLETIC CLOTHING SYSTEM was developed, based on the layer after layer principle. The outer layers and those in between are developed sport specifically. They protect the body against all weathers, while the inner layer transports body moisture. This system was expanded step by step to nearly all kinds of sports.
The success of the brand ODLO could not be stopped any more. Odlo became Europe?s leading sports wear producer.
